Job summary

AKD Softwoods in Caboolture, QLD is offering an Apprenticeship for a Saw Technician. You will train on state-of-the-art timber sawing equipment while earning a trade qualification and contributing to a leading Australian sawmill.

This full-time fixed-term program runs for three years, with on-the-job training under a dedicated Training Manager, and opportunities to work across AKD sites, learn sharpening, blade maintenance, machine alignment, and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Join AKD Apprenticeship Program with a three-year commitment to complete your trade.
• Undertake qualification Certificate III in Saw Technology.
• Gain hands-on experience across AKD’s sawmills with guidance from a dedicated Training Manager.

Responsibilities

• Sharpening, setting and maintaining chipper knives & saws
• Removing and replacing saw blades
• Straightening and stretching steel saw blades
• Alignment of machine centres
• Operating manual and computer controlled tools and equipment
• Problem solving and fixing faults
• Optimise saw and timber recovery
