Job summary

Gilgandra Shire Council is seeking an Apprentice Plant Operator to learn on the job while gaining qualifications. The role is a full-time fixed-term contract up to three years, with weekly pay and salary range outlined.

The program includes achieving a Certificate III in Plant Operations and practical experience in civil infrastructure. Applicants should have a Class C licence (provisional acceptable), White Card, and a commitment to completing the apprenticeship with a positive team attitude.

Job description

Council is seeking application for the position of Apprentice Plant Operator! This is an exciting opportunity to learn on the job, develop practical skills, and gain a wide range of recognised qualifications! Government financial incentives may apply for the successful candidates.

These positions are offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis for up to three (3) years, with salary determined in accordance with the applicable salary structure and based on factors such as age, skills, and experience.

• Full time - Fixed Term 3 years - 38 hours per week
• Rostered day off every fortnight - an extra 22 days off a year!
• Weekly pay cycle
• Salary range $625.80 - $1279.60 per week

ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful applicants will assist Councils Infrastructure teams delivery of a range of services, primarily focused on the maintenance and construction of roads and other public civil infrastructure assets. Throughout the apprenticeship, apprentices will be required to complete a Certificate III Plant Operations while gaining valuable hands-on practical practical experience.

ABOUT YOU

Council is seeking motivated individuals who can demonstrate the following:

• Class C Licence (provisional acceptable)
• A genuine commitment to completing the apprenticeship
• A strong interest in plant operations and civil construction
• A positive attitude, willingness to work as part of a team, and ability to support others
• Possess a current White Card (General Construction Induction Card) or complete the certification prior to employment
• Sound literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Punctuality and a good attendance record
• Ability to accurately complete time and plant sheets
