Job summary

Simplot Bathurst Plant in Australia is offering an electrical apprenticeship as an Apprentice Maintenance Electrician, starting late 2026/early 2027. You will train on a wide range of manufacturing equipment in a fast-moving FMCG environment and learn to operate CMMS, with a strong emphasis on safety and hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

• Completion of a school-based electrical qualification such as a Cert II in Electrotechnology.
• Genuine interest in electrical systems, automation or industrial technology.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to learning.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
• Ability to commence full-time in late December 2026 / early January 2027.
• Current driver’s licence or Learner Permit with plans to obtain P-Plates.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse people.
• Commitment to completing a 4-year apprenticeship.
• Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical including a urine-based drug and alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to safety initiatives and maintaining a 100% commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace.
• Learning industry best practice in preventative maintenance and breakdown repair of electrical equipment and control systems.
• Attending mandatory TAFE training blocks throughout the apprenticeship.
• Developing problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Using CMMS and a variety of hand tools and equipment.
• Collaborating with Maintenance, Engineering and Production teams on maintenance activities.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
