Job summary

Questas Group in Darwin is seeking an Apprentice Fitter & Machinist to start in December/January. You will learn hands-on across hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation, and more, working with a mentor through the Elevate Apprenticeship Program. This is a structured entry into a trade with long-term career development.

You will gain a nationally recognised trade qualification and join a supportive national network, with access to in-house training and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum Year 10 High School Certificate
• Curious about how machines and mechanical systems work
• Comfortable with maths, and good with your hands
• A clear communicator who enjoys working with people
• Motivated, reliable, and ready to learn

Responsibilities

• Work alongside senior fitters and machinists on fabrication, assembly, and machining tasks
• Learn to read technical drawings and schematics
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of hydraulic and mechanical equipment
• Operate and maintain workshop tools and machinery
• Help maintain a safe, organised workshop environment
• Attend training programs and courses to build your trade knowledge and skills

About the Opportunity

We're looking for an Apprentice Fitter & Machinist to join our Darwin team, starting December/January. Whether you're fresh out of school, ready for a change after years in a different career, or simply looking for a trade that offers long-term security, we want to hear from you.

You'll be learning hands-on, working alongside experienced tradespeople across a broad range of work - hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation, filtration and more. It's the kind of exposure that builds a well-rounded tradesperson, not just someone who knows one corner of the workshop.

You won't be doing it alone. Through our Elevate Apprenticeship Program, you'll have a mentor in your corner, structured learning through the Elevate Academy, and a wider community of apprentices across Questas Group going through the same journey.
