Job summary

Candeloris is looking for an Apprentice Chef to join our busy Sydney kitchen. The role involves on-the-job training, learning basic culinary and knife skills, and supporting the team in high-paced service.

You will work under the chef's supervision, operate standard kitchen equipment, and contribute to food preparation, presentation and cleaning tasks. Eligibility requires Australian citizenship, permanent residency or full working rights.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef in meal preparation and cooking.
• Learn procedures and duties in food preparation.
• Work under the supervision of the chef and follow kitchen procedures.
• Operate commercial cooking equipment (mixers, steamers, fryers, ovens, stoves).
• Serve food when required.
• Assist with kitchen cleaning, sanitation, and equipment cleaning.
• Support other areas of food preparation and storage as needed.

Our kitchen works at a fast pace and work schedules will include weekends.

You will need to be passionate about food, career driven and a team player.

Training for an apprentice cook covers basic culinary skills, knife skills, knowledge of ingredients, use of commercial equipment and kitchen procedures.

Your main duties include but not limited to:

• Assisting the chef in the preparation and cooking of meals.
• Training to learn procedures and duties in food preparation.
• Working under the supervision of the chef.
• Operating commercial cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, fryers, ovens and stoves.
• Serves food when required.
• Kitchen cleaning, such as dish washing and equipment cleaning, sanitation.
• Assists in other areas of food preparation and storage.

The ideal candidate will:
