Job summary

National Truck Repairs, part of AMA Group's Heavy Motors division, seeks a motivated 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Body Builder and Spray Painter for our Beresfield workshop. You will join a skilled team handling heavy vehicle repairs, rebuilds and refinishing projects.

Gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment with strong support from experienced tradespeople, plus a clear apprenticeship path and ongoing safety training.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Body Builder and/or Spray Painter.
  • Interest in heavy vehicles and collision repair industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Reliable attendance and good time management.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with workplace safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Wear PPE at all times and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Complete apprenticeship training and theory within required timeframes.
  • Assist with inspections, repairs, and refits as directed.

The Opportunity

Due to continued business growth, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Body Builder and Spray Painter to join our experienced team in Beresfield.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your trade skills while working alongside industry professionals on a diverse range of heavy vehicle repairs, rebuilds, and refinishing projects. You'll gain valuable hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced environment while continuing your apprenticeship journey with the support of a highly skilled team.

About the Role
As a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Body Builder, you will:
  • Assist with vehicle inspections and damage assessments in line with company procedures
  • Support diagnosis, repair, and replacement activities as required
  • Repair and refurbish recycled components to quality standards
  • Ensure vehicles and components are safe and compliant before refitting
  • Carry out minor repairs in accordance with work instructions and job sheets
  • Seek approval before undertaking additional repair work
  • Verify that replacement parts are correct, undamaged, and fit for use
As a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Spray Painter, you will:
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces through cleaning, sanding, and masking
  • Mix and colour match paints for accurate finishes
  • Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, and clearcoats using spray-painting equipment
  • Blend repairs seamlessly into existing paintwork
  • Complete touch‑ups and rectify surface imperfections
  • Produce specialised finishes when required
  • Monitor drying and curing processes to achieve quality outcomes
  • Inspect completed work to ensure high standards are maintained
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements
