Job summary

Wales Bus and Body Repairs in Smithfield, NSW, part of AMA Group - Heavy Motors, is seeking an experienced Body Builder/Fabricator/Boilermaker to join the team.

You’ll work in our dynamic smash repair facility, shaping and restoring heavy vehicle exteriors, contributing to automotive excellence. The role involves fabrication, welding, and collaboration with the workshop to meet quality standards while adhering to safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bus body repair experience essential.
• Trade qualification essential.
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
• Strong communication and decision making skills.
• Mechanical knowledge for tool usage and maintenance.
• Active NSW trade licence.

Responsibilities

• Assess the vehicle’s damage and plan repairs per Job Sheet.
• Fabricate, repair and shape trailers, trucks and fridges to quality standards.
• Weld repaired vehicle to a high standard.
• Advise Parts Interpretor of additional parts required beyond estimate.
• Coordinate with workshop team to maintain workflow.
• Notify of product shortages affecting production.
• Check daily schedule to ensure time-frames are met.
• Treat company equipment with care.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Body Builder/Fabricator/Boilermaker to join the team at Wales Bus, Smithfield.

You’ll be part of our dynamic smash repair facility, using your skills to shape and restore heavy vehicle exteriors, contributing to the future of automotive excellence.

Role responsibilities

• Assess the vehicle’s damage to determine how to perform the repair work in accordance with Job Sheet
• Fabricate, replicate and repair the bodies of trailers, trucks and fridges to our quality standards
• Welding repaired vehicle to a high standard
• Advise the Parts Interpreter of any additional parts required not originally quoted on the estimate
• Co-ordinate with other team members in the workshop to ensure the workflow is appropriately placed
• Notify of any product shortages which would restrict production
• Check the schedule daily to ensure time-frames are met
• Treat company equipment with the same respect for your own tools
