Job summary

Business NSW is recruiting an Apprentice Advisor – First Nations reporting to the Area Manager for First Nations, based in our Parramatta office. The role involves traveling around Western Sydney and surrounding areas including Wollongong to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, guiding them to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

We seek a people-focused, friendly and motivated individual who will be a valued advisor, helping apprentices overcome challenges and stay

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in customer service, sales, business development and/or account management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to set goals, organise own workload, prioritise, meet deadlines, and see tasks through to conclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined caseload of First Nations Australian Apprentices and meet retention objectives.
  • Maintain caseload within the designated territory.
  • Conduct servicing contacts for Key Client Group apprentices as per guidelines.
  • Liaise with Apprentices, Employers and Parents per mentoring plan.
  • Conduct prospecting calls to at-risk apprentices to enter MPSS and meet targets.
  • Support apprentices through workplace transition and study challenges.
  • Provide referrals to mental health providers, literacy/numeracy tools, counseling or other services.
  • Advise employers on induction, coaching and mentoring for apprentices.

Job description

We are currently looking for an Apprentice Advisor - First Nations reporting to theArea Manager – First Nations, to join Apprenticeship Support Australia based in our Parramatta office.

The successful applicant will be travelling around Western Sydney and surrounding areas such as Wollongong and other areas of Sydney to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients of all ages offering them support and guidance to assist them to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

We are looking for a people-focused, friendly, motivated and confident individual who will be a valued advisor and will love to support and encourage Apprentices to complete their apprenticeship.

This is an ideal role for a candidate looking to build a long term career supporting the development of apprentices.

Main responsibilities include:

Management of a defined caseload of KCG Australian Apprentices (First Nations) and will be responsible for meeting regularly to achieve retention objectives.

Maintain the caseload within the designated territory at levels as agreed with the Manager.

Conduct servicing contacts for Key Client Group apprentices as per the schedule defined by DEWR operating guidelines

Liaison with Apprentices, Employers, and Parents as defined in the mentoring plan.

Conduct ‘prospecting’ calls to targeted ‘At-Risk’ Australian Apprentices to enter into MPSS to achieve individual and team targets.

Working with new apprentices and trainees to help them overcome the challenges associated with transitioning to the workplace, and balancing work and studies.

Helping apprentices and trainees who may be under pressures in their personal life, experiencing workplace challenges or struggling to build relationships with their employers and co-workers.

Supporting resolving conflict and other workplace related issues which may be impacting performance and productivity.

Providing referral services to mental health providers, language literacy and numeracy tools, counselling services or other specialist services.

Advising employers on strategies to ensure their apprentice receives the best practice induction when they start, and tactics for coaching and mentoring them to success.

Accurate and time sensitive data collection and quality data management.

Previous experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients of all ages, including those with high level and complex needs is highly desirable
