Job summary

Shellharbour City Council is seeking an experienced Environmental Health professional to join the Environmental Health team to conduct scheduled inspections of licenced and registered premises and provide support and coaching to staff. You will work in a positive, supportive environment dedicated to protecting public health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications eligible for membership of Environmental Health Australia.
• Significant experience as an Environmental Health Officer or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge and experience interpreting and applying Local Government, Public Health and Environmental Health legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate issues and prepare clear, accurate technical reports and recommendations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, customer service and conflict resolution skills.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and developing staff.
• Current NSW Class C Driver Licence.

• Provide expert advice to the community, Council and other stakeholders on environmental health matters, legislative requirements and industry best practice.
• Support, mentor and coach team members to foster a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
