Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a values-driven Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Support Worker for a part-time role in Surry Hills, Sydney. You will provide structured, recovery-focused support to Participants, aligned with TSA guidelines, and ensure a safe environment within a participant-led recovery-based service.

Key duties include risk management, facilitating programs, documenting progress, and supporting medication self-administration where applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate 4 qualification relevant to the work performed or equivalent experience.
• A current and valid First Aid Certificate.
• A current NSW drivers license.
• Experience working with people with AOD and Co-occurring issues.
• AOD Certificate 4 Core unit or willingness to undertake if required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver recovery-oriented support aligned with TSA policies and procedures.
• Implement risk management and safety protocols across all activities.
• Facilitate daily programs focused on health, communication, education, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure continuity of care and progress on treatment goals.
• Maintain accurate records, complete incident reports, and uphold compliance standards.
• Support medication self-administration and conduct drug testing.
• Identify service gaps and contribute to continuous improvement.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Support Worker to provide effective support to Participants ensuring a safe and structured environment is maintained in accordance with TSA guidelines, within a Participant led recovery-based service. This is a part time (3 days a week) position based in Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

What you will bring

• Minimum Certificate 4 qualification relevant to the work performed and or equivalent previous experience in relevant industry, and/or on the job training
• A current and valid First Aid Certificate
• A current NSW drivers licence
• Experience working with people with AOD and Co-occurring issues
• AOD Certificate 4 Core unit AOD Skill set or willingness to undertake if required
