Job summary

CatholicCare NT in Darwin is seeking an experienced counsellor and case manager to join our harm-minimisation program supporting people with co‑occurring substance use and mental health needs.

You will provide evidence‑based counselling, develop case plans, and coordinate services to help participants overcome barriers to care, working within a culturally competent team serving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in mental health and substance use, social work, psychology or other relevant field with experience providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
• Experience facilitating groups and community engagement activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including experience with case management, case note writing, report writing, and case plan development.
• Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and people from diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based counselling and case management for people who use substances and have co-occurring mental health needs to support program objectives.
• Focus on assisting those who face barriers to accessing mental health treatment due to substance use.
• Collaborate with the program team to ensure services are coordinated and outcomes are achieved.
