Job summary

Randstad Pty in Brisbane is seeking an AO6 Senior Media and Content Officer on a 6-month temp contract with hybrid flexibility. The role pays $82.93-$88.57 per hour plus super and is based in the Brisbane CBD.

Key duties include managing media enquiries, drafting releases and talking points, producing social content, and translating complex biosecurity data for varied audiences. This role supports proactive campaigns and agency coordination.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field would be well regarded.
• Proven experience managing fast-paced media enquiries, drafting releases and talking points, and prepping spokespeople under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to produce, edit, and publish engaging social media content including visual and video assets as well as support digital campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Media Relations & Enquiry Management: Manage incoming media enquiries, coordinate inputs and approvals, and support media briefings and interviews including spokesperson preparation.
• Proactive & Reactive Content Development: Research, draft, and produce timely communication collateral, including media releases, talking points, briefings, FAQs, and story pitches.
• Digital & Social Media Production: Create, publish, and manage multimedia content across digital channels, supporting paid campaigns where needed.
• Technical Translation & Message Simplification: Translate complex bio security data into clear, actionable advice for diverse audiences.
• Media Monitoring, Insights & Misinformation Tracking: Monitor coverage and sentiment, evaluate performance, and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Stakeholder & Inter-Agency Coordination: Liaise with internal teams and external partners to align messaging.
• Incident Response & Governance: Follow incident command structures and participate in after-hours on-call rosters.

About the Role

Our client is a QLD government agency based in the Brisbane CBD. They are currently seeking an AO6 Senior Media and Content Officer to come in and work with them on a temp contract for 6 months with potential for extension.

• Demonstrated ability to produce, edit, and publish engaging social media content including visual and video assets as well as support digital campaigns.

• Strategic Media Relations & Enquiry Management: Manage incoming media enquiries, coordinate technical inputs and approvals, and support media briefings and interviews including spokesperson preparation and logistics to maintain public confidence.
• Proactive & Reactive Content Development: Research, draft, and produce timely, clear, and accessible communication collateral, including media releases, response lines, talking points, briefings, FAQs, and proactive story pitches.
• Digital & Social Media Production: Create, publish, and manage engaging multimedia content (visual and video assets) across digital and social channels, supporting paid campaigns where necessary to promote bio security behaviours.
• Technical Translation & Message Simplification: Collaborate closely with technical subject matter experts and incident management personnel to translate complex, evolving bio security data into clear, actionable advice for diverse audiences.
• Media Monitoring, Insights & Misinformation Tracking: Monitor news coverage, digital channels, and public sentiment to track narrative trends, detect misinformation, evaluate channel performance, and recommend data-driven adjustments to communication strategies.
• Stakeholder & Inter-Agency Coordination: Liaise with departmental teams, partner agencies, and external stakeholders to ensure unified, aligned messaging across all shared communication touch points.
• Incident Response & Operational Governance: Adhere to incident command structures, mandatory clearance protocols, and record-keeping standards, including participating in the after-hours and weekend on-call response rosters as required.
