Job summary

NTT Data is seeking an Analytics Engineer with strong GCP and Looker expertise to develop governed analytics in a modern cloud data ecosystem. You will focus on building the Looker semantic layer, trusted metrics, and AI-enabled analytics experiences for business users across the organization.

Based in Norwest, NSW, this 12-month contract offers a hybrid work model (3 days onsite). You will collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable LookML models,

Qualifications

• Experience with Looker and LookML to model metrics and explorations.

NTT Data is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer with strong Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Looker expertise to support the development of governed analytics solutions within a modern cloud data ecosystem. This role will focus on building and enhancing the Looker semantic layer, enabling trusted self-service reporting, and supporting conversational analytics capabilities that allow business users to interact with data through natural language. Working closely with data engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders, you will help translate business requirements into scalable LookML models, trusted metrics, and intuitive AI-enabled analytics experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain LookML models, views, dimensions, measures, joins, and Explores to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Contribute to a governed semantic layer that provides consistent business definitions, KPIs, and reporting metrics.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into scalable and reusable analytics solutions.
• Support conversational analytics capabilities, including natural-language querying and AI-driven data experiences within Looker.
• Enhance metadata, business terminology, documentation, and semantic model context to improve analytics adoption and AI response accuracy.
• Optimize Looker and BigQuery performance through efficient data modelling, query tuning, and warehouse design best practices.
• Support governance, security, testing, release management, documentation, and ongoing platform enhancements.

Skills & Experience

• Strong previous experience working as an Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or Data Analytics Consultant with hands-on Looker expertise.
• Solid experience developing LookML models, Explores, views, dimensions, measures, joins, and derived tables.
• Strong SQL capabilities with practical experience working in BigQuery environments.
• Good understanding of semantic layers, governed metrics frameworks, and reusable analytics models.
• Experience with dimensional modelling, star schemas, fact and dimension tables, and analytical data structures.
• Exposure to Gemini in Looker, conversational analytics, natural language querying, or AI-driven analytics capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
