Job summary

Global 360 is expanding its data and analytics capabilities and seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and evolve its enterprise data platform on Google Cloud. You will own scalable data pipelines, analytics datasets and governance practices while collaborating with stakeholders and engineers to ensure trusted data for business decisions.

The role demands hands-on GCP expertise, experience with BigQuery, and a focus on engineering excellence and platform governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 7+ years of commercial experience in data engineering or similar roles.
• Demonstrated experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale data platforms on GCP.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the enterprise data platform and engineering standards.

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in the design, development and ongoing evolution of our enterprise data platform.
This position is responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, delivering high-quality analytics datasets and driving best practices across data engineering, governance and platform operations. You will work closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, data scientists and software engineers to ensure data is trusted, accessible and able to support business decision-making.
The successful candidate will bring strong hands‑on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience and demonstrated ownership of enterprise‑scale data platforms. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, platform thinking and a commitment to engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help own and evolve the enterprise data platform and engineering standards
• Design, build and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines
• Develop and optimise enterprise analytics datasets and data products
• Design and support cloud‑native data solutions within Google Cloud Platform
• Contribute to the architecture, governance and continuous improvement of the enterprise data platform
• Build and maintain ELT/ETL processes using modern data engineering tools and frameworks
• Develop and maintain data models that support reporting, analytics and business intelligence requirements
• Implement and maintain data quality, testing and monitoring frameworks
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices
• Optimise platform performance, reliability, security and cost management
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand and deliver data requirements
• Support platform governance, lineage, observability and compliance initiatives
• Mentor team members and contribute to engineering standards and best practices

Key Criteria:

• Minimum 7 years' commercial experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer or Data Platform Engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering,
• Analytics or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience designing, building and supporting enterprise‑scale data platforms within Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong experience with BigQuery and Google Cloud‑native data architectures
• Proven experience building scalable batch and streaming data solutions using:
• - BigQuery
• - Cloud Storage
• - Dataform or dbt
• - Cloud Composer (Airflow)
• - Dataflow
• - Pub/Sub
• - Cloud Run
• Strong experience developing and productionising ELT pipelines and analytics datasets
• Experience establishing and maintaining engineering standards including code reviews, testing, CI/CD and governance frameworks
• Strong SQL skills including performance optimisation, partitioning, clustering and query tuning
• Advanced Python skills for data engineering and automation
• Strong experience with dimensional modelling, Data Vault modelling and enterprise data architecture principles
• Experience implementing data quality frameworks, monitoring and observability solutions
• Strong understanding of security, governance, lineage, reliability and cost optimisation within cloud platforms
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience working collaboratively across technical and business teams

Highly Desirable:

• Experience within Insurance, Financial Services or Banking environments
• Experience leading platform modernisation or cloud migration initiatives
• Experience with Looker and LookML semantic modelling
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Snowflake or AWS environments
• Google Cloud certifications
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI
