Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is hiring an Analyst - Data & Reporting. You will partner across the organisation to deliver trusted insights, transforming data into meaningful reporting and analysis that informs Australia’s energy future.

The role supports developing reports and dashboards, analysing trends and ensuring data quality. Based in any Australian capital city, with flexible working options and a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in data analysis with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and work across teams.
  • Proactive, curious and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and data visualisations.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, insights and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data, reporting and business requirements.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy and consistency across reporting outputs.
  • Translate data into clear and meaningful insights for a range of audiences.
  • Support continuous improvement of reporting processes, tools and frameworks.

About The Team

AEMO’s System Design division is at the centre of one of Australia’s most significant energy transformations, helping shape and enable the power system of the future. Within System Design, the Onboarding and Connections Group plays a critical role in bringing new generators, storage and load projects into the National Electricity Market. The team combines high-quality data, practical analytics, fit-for-purpose systems, and clear reporting to meet regulatory obligations, provide trusted information on connections which helps guide the energy transition and drive continuous improvement across the connections process.

About The Role

As an Analyst - Data & Reporting you’ll partner across AEMO to deliver trusted insights that support informed decision-making, drive business performance. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, we transform data into meaningful reporting and analysis that helps shape outcomes for Australia’s energy future.

This role can be based in any Australian capital city.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and data visualisations.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, insights and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data, reporting and business requirements.

What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in data analysis, working with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python.
  • Data visualisation capability e.g. experience using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
  • A proactive approach, curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow.
