Job summary

AEMO is seeking an Analyst, Data and Reporting within its System Design division to deliver high-quality reporting, analysis and insights to support business and operational decision-making.

You will partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, improve data management and reporting processes, and present data clearly to drive energy system outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Commerce or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in data analysis with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python.
  • Data visualization using Power BI, Tableau or similar.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proactive, curious and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and data visualisations.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, insights and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data, reporting and business requirements.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy and consistency across reporting outputs.
  • Translate data into clear and meaningful insights for a range of audiences.
  • Support continuous improvement of reporting processes, tools and frameworks.

About The Team

AEMO’s System Design division is at the centre of one of Australia’s most significant energy transformations, helping shape and enable the power system of the future. Within System Design, the Onboarding and Connections Group plays a critical role in bringing new generators, storage and load projects into the National Electricity Market. The team combines high-quality data, practical analytics, fit-for-purpose systems, and clear reporting to meet regulatory obligations, provide trusted information on connections which helps guide the energy transition and drive continuous improvement across the connections process.

As an Analyst – Data & Reporting you’ll partner across AEMO to deliver trusted insights that support informed decision-making, drive business performance. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, we transform data into meaningful reporting and analysis that helps shape outcomes for Australia’s energy future.

About The Role

As an Analyst, Data and Reporting, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality reporting, analysis and insights to support business and operational decision-making.

Working with a variety of stakeholders, you’ll help identify opportunities, improve data management and reporting processes and ensure data is presented in a clear, meaningful and actionable way. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your analytical skills while contributing to work with real-world impact.

This role can be based in any Australian capital city.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and data visualisations.

What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in data analysis, working with large datasets
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python
  • Data visualisation capability e.g. experience using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
  • A proactive approach, curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow.
