Job summary

Barwon Health in Geelong is seeking an anaesthetic nurse who blends perioperative nursing with assisting the anaesthetist. You will support the patient’s safe journey from the perioperative area through the PACU.

You will monitor patients after surgery, detect and manage complications related to surgery or anaesthesia, and provide safe, high-quality, patient-centred care within the Anaesthetics and Recovery environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with minimum of 12 months acute nursing experience at commencement of program.

Responsibilities

• The role of the anaesthetic nurse is integral to the patient's safe journey from the perioperative area through to the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).
• They oversee care and monitoring of patients immediately after surgery in the PACU.
• They are responsible for detection and safe management of complications related to either the surgery, or the anaesthetic.
• Provide safe, high-quality and patient-centred nursing care within the Anaesthetics and Recovery environment.
