Job summary

Harvest Road Group in Perth’s CBD is seeking an AI Engineer to join our expanding Technology team. This full-time, permanent role focuses on designing, building, and deploying agentic AI systems that drive measurable outcomes across operations, with travel to operational sites as required.

You will work with the Head of Data & AI, Apps and IT Infrastructure to deliver autonomous agents, identify efficiency gains across the supply chain and corporate functions, and ensure solutions are scalable,

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience building and deploying agentic AI or automation solutions that have delivered measurable business impact.
• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Python proficiency for AI-powered applications and workflows.
• Experience designing and orchestrating multi-step AI agents that interact with tools, APIs and data sources to complete real tasks.
• Strong understanding of LLM capabilities and prompt engineering for production-grade AI.

Responsibilities

• Identify and deliver agentic AI solutions that automate workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Collaborate with operational and business teams to uncover high-value automation opportunities and translate them into agent solutions.
• Build scalable AI solutions that integrate with Harvest Road’s data platforms, business systems and APIs to take meaningful actions.
• Move quickly from problem to prototype to production, validating impact early and iterating based on user feedback.
• Monitor production agent performance, measure business impact and improve reliability and scope over time.
• Champion responsible AI practices with guardrails and security alignment.
• Document solutions clearly and support capability uplift across the business.
• Ensure AI solutions manage cybersecurity risks.

The Role: AI Engineer

We have a full-time, permanent opportunity for an AI Engineer to join our expanding Technology team based in Perth’s CBD office with regular travel to operational sites as required.

In this role, you will design, build and deploy agentic AI systems that drive measurable outcomes across Harvest Road’s operations. Working closely with the Head of Data & AI, Apps, IT Infrastructure and operational leaders, you will lead the development of autonomous AI agents that reduce manual effort, accelerate decision-making and unlock new value across the business.

You will also identify high-impact automation and intelligence opportunities across the supply chain, processing and corporate functions, then design and deliver agent-based solutions that act on data, interact with systems and produce real business results. The focus of this role is on shipping solutions to improve the efficiency of how our people perform their day-to-day work.

You will be a builder, someone who gets their satisfaction from putting working systems in front of people rather than talking about them. You will move quickly from problem to prototype to production, sit alongside operational teams to find where the real friction is, and keep improving agents once they are live rather than handing them over and walking away. You will be comfortable creating and building within guardrails that enable speed but not at the cost of control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, design and deliver agentic AI solutions that automate workflows, surface insights and reduce manual effort across Harvest Road’s operations.
• Work directly with operational and business teams to uncover high-value automation opportunities and translate them into working agent solutions.
• Build and maintain scalable and governable AI solutions that integrate with Harvest Road’s data platforms, business systems and APIs to take meaningful actions on behalf of users.
• Move quickly from problem to prototype to production, validating impact early and iterating based on feedback from the business users.
• Monitor agent performance in production, measure business impact and continuously improve reliability, accuracy and scope over time.
• Champion responsible AI practices, ensuring agents operate transparently, within appropriate guardrails, Cyber Security standards and aligned to Harvest Road’s values and risk appetite.
• Document solutions clearly and support broader capability uplift so the business understands and trusts the AI tools being built for them.
• Ensure all AI solutions are developed and maintained in a manner that effectively manages and mitigates cyber security risks.
• Work with the Applications team on how to improve current Applications used in the business, by either creating integrated capability or complete replacement of existing tools.
• Ensure that new systems are built in a way that can be handed over to the Applications team to further iterate and build upon.

About You:

• Demonstrable experience building and deploying agentic AI or automation solutions that have delivered measurable business impact.
• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Python and practical experience building AI-powered applications and workflows.
• Experience designing and orchestrating multi-step AI agents that interact with tools, APIs and data sources to complete real tasks.
• Strong understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, prompt engineering, and how to build reliable, production-grade AI behaviour.
• Ability to integrate AI agents with business systems, databases and APIs to enable autonomous action.
• A commercial mindset that is able to identify where AI will create the most value and prioritise accordingly.
• Class ‘C’ driver’s licence (onsite travel to operational sites required).
