Job summary

Westpac invites applications for a software/AI engineer within the Credit Risk Limits squad in Sydney. You’ll work across Murex and Calypso, building AI-enabled tools to automate investigations, data quality checks and testing in credit risk platforms.

You’ll own end-to-end delivery, from design to release, while learning credit risk concepts and collaborating with Front Office, Tech and vendors in a hands-on engineering role.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years’ experience in software, data or platform engineering.
• Python, SQL and scripting skills, with willingness to learn new languages and platforms.
• Good DevOps fundamentals, including CI/CD and automated testing.
• Genuine interest in AI engineering and building AI-enabled tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across data mapping, feeds and batch/EOD processing.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-enabled tools and agents to automate investigations, data quality checks, reconciliations and testing across credit risk.
• Prototype emerging AI approaches and turn successful ideas into production-ready solutions.
• Own product and regulatory change end-to-end, including APS180, from requirements and design through testing and release.
• Build and support integrations and batch/EOD data flows across Murex, Calypso, exposure, limits and reporting platforms.
• Support cloud/mesh platforms, CI/CD, automated testing and production troubleshooting, fixing root causes and reducing recurring issues.
• Build knowledge of credit risk and collaborate with Front Office, Technology, business users and vendors to deliver effective solutions.
