Job summary

V.T.Melbourne & Co is seeking a technically skilled professional to support agricultural operations across multiple sites in New South Wales. You will work closely with production and research teams to enhance efficiency, productivity, and adoption of precision farming technologies.

The role requires a relevant qualification or substantial experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel between farm sites. This is a full-time, on-site position with salary in the 75k–85k AUD range.

Qualifications

• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field or 3+ years in a technical role.
• At least 12 months of professional-level work experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern agricultural practices and precision agriculture technology.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Current driver licence and willingness to travel between farm sites.

Responsibilities

• Examine soil, crop and pasture conditions to identify nutrient deficiencies and recommend treatments.
• Assist in developing and trialling new planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing methods for crops and livestock feed.
• Install, calibrate, maintain and service precision agriculture equipment and technology.
• Collect and record field and laboratory data to support research, production and business decisions.
• Provide technical support to agronomy staff and farm management.
• Prepare technical reports summarising findings and recommendations.
• Assist with training farm staff in the safe use of agricultural technology and equipment.

Job Description

V.T.Melbourne and co Reporting to Farm Manager the successful candidate will provide technical support across our agricultural operations, working closely with our production and research teams to improve efficiency, productivity and the adoption of modern agricultural technology.

Benefits & Tasks & Responsibilities

• Examine soil, crop and pasture conditions to identify nutrient deficiencies and recommend appropriate treatments
• Assist in developing and trialling new methods of planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing crops and livestock feed to achieve optimum land use
• Install, calibrate, maintain and service precision agriculture equipment and technology, including sensors, monitoring systems, virtual fencing and automated machinery such as automatic milking systems
• Collect and record field and laboratory data to support agricultural research, production and business decisions
• Provide technical support to agricultural research scientists, agronomists and farm management staff
• Prepare technical reports summarising findings and recommendations
• Assist with training farm staff in the safe and effective use of agricultural technology and equipment

Qualification & Experience

An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field such as agriculture, horticulture, agronomy or agricultural science, or at least three years of relevant work experience in a comparable technical role

• At least 12 months work experience at a professional level
• Sound knowledge of modern agricultural practices and precision agriculture technology
