Responsibilities

• Soil testing and assessing the terrain, physical and soil characteristics of the orchards to identify nutrient deficiencies and determine effective chemical and fertiliser use
• Assisting in developing new planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing methods to achieve optimum land usage
• Identifying micro-organisms, insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops and assisting in devising control methods
• Assessing produce to set and maintain quality standards to meet market requirements
• Ordering and arranging the supply of chemicals and fertilisers for Farm Managers and advising on their use per OH&S regulations
• Collecting and collating data for research
• Assessing planting, harvesting and other production aspects
• Providing reports to advise producers on farming techniques and management
• Training staff on farms in improved production techniques

Agricultural Technician for vegetable farms L & R Khakh located in Shepparton East, Victoria.

Key responsibilities

Ordering and arranging the supply of chemicals and fertilisers to Farm Managers, and giving advice on their use in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations

Collecting and collating data for research

Assessing all planting, harvesting and other aspects of production processes

Provide reports to advise producers on farming techniques and management

Train other staff working on the farms in improved production techniques
