Job summary

AG Workforce is recruiting a Regional Crop Imaging & Data Technician in Victoria. The role involves field-based data collection, crop imaging, and travel to farms within Mornington and Cranbourne regions. Flexible hours with a minimum of 20 hours per week are offered.

Candidates should have an interest in agriculture, be comfortable with imaging technology, and hold an ABN with a valid driver’s license and own vehicle. Part-time short-term contract.

Pay Rate: $35/hr + negotiable based on candidates

Our client is a European based company whose focus is on AI-Powered Precision Agricultural Technology. They are looking for dynamic and engaged individuals who want to become involved at grass roots level collecting vital data for ongoing product development.

The Regional Crop Imaging & Data Technician is responsible for collecting high-quality crop imagery and data from the Southern Victorian region. This is a hands-on, field based role requiring someone physically fit and able bodied, who is happy to travel to various farms and growers within the Mornington and Cranbourne regions. The role is very flexible and able to be completed around other commitments provided the candidate is able to complete a minimum of 20hrs a week.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

• Build relationships with Farmers and Growers and secure access to crops for data collection
• Utilise specialised imaging equipment, which will be provided, to capture high-quality images of the crop during various stages of growth
• Monitor and document crop growth and accurately record field data

Key qualities for successful applicants:

• Have an interest or background in agriculture, agronomy or horticulture with a basic understanding of cropping systems
• Confident with using technology and tools such as smart phones, tablets, apps etc.
• Due to the Mechanics and safety issues relating to the use of the imaging machine, operators are required to be a minimum of 1.80m tall– the machine is 1.8m long and weighs approximately 10kg. It has been ergonomically designed but will require someone fit and able bodied.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the Greater Melbourne region
• Be self-motivated, organised and efficient whilst working independently
• Be able to regularly coordinate with other members of the company and growers
• Holding your own ABN or willingness to obtain will be highly regarded
• Current and valid Drivers licence, and suitable personal vehicle to transport the equipment
