Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Primary Care Services team. The post involves autonomous and collaborative clinical assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, and management of patients with undifferentiated and long-term conditions.

You will provide leadership within the nursing team, contribute to service development and governance, and support prevention and urgent care pathways.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PgDip in Advanced Practice with Advanced Clinical Examination Skills and Extended Independent Prescribing.
• Registration on Part 1 of the NMC Register is essential.
• Extensive post-registration nursing experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing and management of patients with undifferentiated and long-term conditions.
• Lead and contribute to service development, quality improvement and governance.
• Deliver person-centred care across Primary Care and Urgent Care pathways.
• Work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team and liaise with specialist services when needed.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Primary Care Services team within Argyll & Bute HSCP.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and management of patients presenting with both undifferentiated and long-term conditions.

The post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care across Primary Care Services, and Urgent Care pathways.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expert clinical decision-making skills, provide leadership within the wider nursing team, and contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance, and workforce development.

The role includes providing assessment and treatment for a wide range of presentations, undertaking advanced clinical examinations, requesting and interpreting investigations, prescribing appropriately, referring patients to specialist services when required, and contributing to the prevention of hospital admission through proactive management of patient care.

As an experienced nurse with Registration on Part 1 of the NMC Register, you will possess extensive post registration experience. A Master’s degree/PgDip in Advanced Practice which incorporates a programme of Advanced Clinical Examination Skills and Extended Independent (non-medical) Prescribing qualification is an essential requirement for this post.
