Job summary

Department of Families, Fairness & Housing VIC in Mildura is seeking an Advanced Child Protection Practitioner for After Hours Services. You will receive and assess reports of alleged abuse, conduct investigations, and develop safety plans for children and young people with autonomy appropriate for the role.

As part of the After-Hours team you will work to a structured rostered model, providing response and emergency outreach visits outside core hours.

Qualifications

• Preferred candidates will have a social work, welfare, psychology related qualification and/or relevant experience
• Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years' case work or similar relevant experience in child and family social work
• A valid driver's license (learner's permit not acceptable)
• A current working with children's check card

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team that responds to and manages all urgent child protection matters received outside core business hours, including weekends and public holidays
• Assess new reports of potential child abuse or neglect and provide investigation and response
• Manage and problem solve complex cases
• Plan development and emergency outreach vists, as required
• Support and develop Beginning Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice whiledemonstratingyourexpertisethrough case practice
