Job summary

Department of Families, Fairness & Housing VIC in Mildura is seeking an Advanced Child Protection Practitioner for After Hours Services. You will receive and assess reports of alleged abuse, conduct investigations, and develop safety plans for children and young people with autonomy appropriate for the role.

As part of the After-Hours team you will work to a structured rostered model, providing response and emergency outreach visits outside core hours.

Qualifications

• Preferred candidates will have a social work, welfare, psychology related qualification and/or relevant experience
• Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years' case work or similar relevant experience in child and family social work
• A valid driver's license (learner's permit not acceptable)
• A current working with children's check card

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team that responds to and manages all urgent child protection matters received outside core business hours, including weekends and public holidays
• Assess new reports of potential child abuse or neglect and provide investigation and response
• Manage and problem solve complex cases
• Plan development and emergency outreach vists, as required
• Support and develop Beginning Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice whiledemonstratingyourexpertisethrough case practice

Advanced Child Protection Practitioner– After Hours Services

About the role

You'll be part of a team where you'll have opportunities to learn, grow and make a positive difference.

As an Advanced child protection practitioner,you willreceive and assess reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people, conduct investigations and develop plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. You will often be dealing with more complex cases and willoperatewith an increased level of autonomyappropriate forthe role.

As part of the After-Hours team you will work to a structured rostered model and provide response and emergency outreach visits as required to all child protection matters that are received outside core business hours; at night, on weekends and on public holidays. Employees will be entitled to applicable penalty rates and allowances in accordance with theVictorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024, which could equate up to 30% or more on top of commencing salary.

• CommencementSalary of $100,894 to $114,476 per annum (plus superannuation)
• Access to free Child protection wellbeing program (CPWP) and child protection health program (CPHP) designed to support the wellbeing of child protection staff
• Generous leave provisions, 20 days of annual leave, 15 days of personal/carers leave, an extra 5 days of additional leave after 12 months of service
• Child Protection Practice Induction Program delivered over 5 weeks, to equip new starts with the necessary practice knowledge and skills

Skills and experience required

• Preferred candidates will have a social work, welfare, psychology relatedqualificationand/or relevant experience
• Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years' case work or similar relevant experience in child and family social work
