Job summary

Ted Noffs Foundation in Caboolture, QLD, is seeking a dedicated Adolescent and Family Counsellor to provide counselling, outreach support, and case management for youth experiencing substance use and mental health issues. The role requires building rapport with young people aged 12–25 and coordinating with families and services.

The position is full-time with outreach across the metro-north region, based at Caboolture.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. psychology, counselling, social work).
• Experience and ability to work with young people aged 12–25.
• Ability to operate in an outreach setting.
• Minimum 2 years direct counselling experience.
• Registration or eligibility for membership with AHPRA or a professional association.
• QLD Blue Card and a current Driver Licence (provisional minimum).

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counselling as required.
• Conduct thorough assessments for each young person.
• Maintain contact with young people and provide outreach when needed.
• Deliver early intervention and prevention strategies.
• Support and guide young people to reduce or cease drug use.
• Coordinate with referrers and family/carers for integrated care.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.

Remuneration:Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Award 2010 (Level 5) + full salary packaging options available up to $15,900 per year

Originally named The Wayside Foundation, The Ted Noffs Foundation was established in 1970 by the Australian humanitarian, Reverend Ted Noffs, who’s work championed social justice, mental health support, and innovative youth services. Today, the Foundation continues his legacy, delivering frontline services and community support across NSW, ACT & QLD. With over 200 staff and 350 volunteers, we remain deeply committed to helping young people affected by issues related to drugs, crime, and mental health.

The Role:

Noffs is looking for a dedicated Adolescent and Family Counsellor to join our service in Caboolture with outreach in the surrounding metro-north region. The Adolescent and Family Counsellor supports young people experiencing substance use and mental health issues through engagement, case management and counselling.

Responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:

Provide individual counselling as required.

Conduct a thorough assessment of each young person.

Actively maintain contact with young people in the service as appropriate.

Deliver early intervention and prevention strategies.

Encourage and support young people to develop and implement strategies aimed at reducing and/or ceasing drug use.

Ensure young people have proper representation and access to all services they may require.

Arrange community networking for a young person to encourage positive interactions in a safe and supportive environment.

Liaise effectively with referrers, service providers and/or family and carers to ensure the best service for our young people.

Maintain accurate records, statistics and reports.

Expectation to work in an outreach setting to the catchment areas and within the home base.

Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. psychology, counselling, social work.

Experience and demonstrated ability to work with young people between the ages of 12-25yo.

Ability to operate in an outreach setting.

Ability to work effectively both as a team member and as a practitioner with minimal supervision.

Strong personal and interpersonal boundaries.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Commitment to the principles of harm minimisation and to the aims of the Ted Noffs Foundation.

Must hold and maintain a cleared QLD Blue Card and a current DriverLicense (provisional license minimum).

Experience in the drug and alcohol sector.

Registration or eligible for membership with AHPRAor other professional association.

Minimum 2 years directcounselling experience.
