Stream Healthcare in Cairns is seeking a qualified Counsellor to provide brief intervention, counselling, care coordination and referrals to people experiencing mental health concerns and AOD challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
• Current ACA Level 3+ or PACFA registration.
• Experience working with AOD (alcohol and other drugs).
• Experience supporting people with complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide brief intervention, counselling, care coordination and referrals to people experiencing mental health concerns and AOD challenges.

Are you a qualified Counsellor looking to make a meaningful difference for people experiencing mental health and/or alcohol and other drug challenges?

We’re currently recruiting for an Counsellor to join a well-established, welcoming not-for-profit community-based mental health service in Cairns. This is an opportunity to provide accessible, trauma-informed support to individuals and families while working alongside a multidisciplinary team and broader community services.

Permanent - Part-Time, 0.6 – 0.8 FTE, $88,090 + super + salary packaging

About the Role

You’ll provide brief intervention, counselling, care coordination and referrals to people experiencing mental health concerns, AOD challenges, distress or crisis. The service provides a low-stigma, accessible alternative to emergency departments, offering immediate, short and medium-term support before connecting people with ongoing services.

About You

We’re looking for a compassionate and experienced Counsellor who can work confidently with people experiencing mental health concerns, AOD issues and complex psychosocial needs.

You will ideally have:

• A minimum Bachelor's qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy
• Current ACA Level 3+ or PACFA registration
• Experience working with AOD
• Experience supporting people with complex needs

This is a permanent part-time position, with opportunities available at 0.6–0.8 FTE.
