Job summary

Australian Essential Services Compliance (AESC) is seeking an APFS/FPAS accredited professional to lead ESM audits across diverse client properties. You’ll ensure regulatory compliance for AFSS/ AFFS while delivering clear guidance and high-quality reports.

As part of a national team, you’ll engage with building managers, coordinate tests, and contribute to career development through tailored professional plans and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• APFS accreditation ideally FPAS auditor.
• Background in fire systems, mechanical systems, or passive fire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured ESM audits across client properties.
• Coordinate and attend System Interface Tests; identify defects and report.
• Assist clients complete AFFS and AFSS.
• Produce accurate, high-quality compliance reports.
• Manage and attend client meetings; interview building managers.
• Provide client briefings and maintain clear communication.
• Review and critique reports by other auditors.
• Record job times and operational data accurately.

The Job.

As an APFS, you will conduct structured ESM audits across a broad range of client’s properties to assess compliance with Essential Safety Measures (ESM). You’ll play a key role in ensuring our clients meet regulatory requirements, including Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) while receiving clear, professional guidance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting Essential Safety Measures (ESM) audits, inspections, and surveys
• Coordinating and attending System Interface Tests, including defect identification and reporting
• Assisting clients complete Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFFS)
• Producing accurate, high-quality compliance reports
• Managing and attending client meetings
• Interviewing building managers to gather relevant property information
• Providing client briefings and maintaining clear communication throughout each engagement
• Reviewing and critiquing reports prepared by other auditors
• Accurately recording job times and operational data

The Candidate

You are a confident, self-motivated professional who enjoys autonomy but values being part of a close-knit, experienced team.

You will bring:

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
• Background or qualifications in fire systems, mechanical systems, or passive fire
• Experience in account management, team management, or coordination
• APFS accreditation- ideally you will be a fully accredited FPAS auditor
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities
• Strong time management and planning skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to team culture
