Job summary

East Arnhem Regional Council is seeking two Accounts Receivable Officers to join the Finance team. You will manage end-to-end AR processes, issue invoices and statements, and monitor outstanding balances to support timely debt collection.

The role requires a relevant accounting qualification or equivalent experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work autonomously in a busy environment. A current NDIS Screening clearance and C Class Driver's Licence are required.

  • Experience in high-volume financial transaction processing in a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.

Job description

Council is looking for two Accounts Receivable Officers to join its Finance team.

The Accounts Receivable Officer oversees end-to-end accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate billing, effective management of outstanding accounts, timely collection of debts, and strong customer support.

What you’ll do:
  • Process invoices, credit adjustments, receipts, and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices and statements using approved documentation.
  • Allocate and reconcile customer payments, ensuring account accuracy.
  • Monitor outstanding accounts, follow up overdue balances, and support debt recovery.
  • Resolve invoice enquiries and disputes with customers and Council staff.
  • Perform reconciliations, support reporting and audits, and contribute to process improvements and team support.
  • Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as reasonably directed by the Senior Accounts Receivable Officer.
What we’re looking for:
  • Relevant qualification in accounting, bookkeeping, business or a related discipline or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-volume financial transaction processing, preferably in a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and the ability to work confidently with financial management systems.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to maintaining complete audit trails and financial records.
  • Proven effective time management with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  • Must hold a current C Class Drivers Licence.

  • A competitive salary $78,219.80 - $82,983.08 per year, excluding super), with annual reviews under the Enterprise Agreement
