Job summary

Brandt Tractor invites applications for an Accounts Payable Team Lead to join our Finance Team in Ballarat, Australia. You will lead and develop the Accounts Payable group, ensuring invoices align with purchasing policies, approvals, and supporting documentation.

This role focuses on timely processing, compliance, and driving efficiency across the AP function. You will monitor workload, support month-end activities, and collaborate with operational and corporate departments to enhance controls

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and clear communication in AP teams.
• Experience dealing with suppliers and resolving issues promptly and methodically.
• Familiarity with quality processes and continuous improvement.
• Strong grounding in general accounting principles and AP understanding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train Accounts Payable team for cohesive vendor relations.
• Ensure invoices comply with PO requirements, approvals, and documentation standards.
• Review employee expense claims for policy compliance and resolve exceptions.
• Balance month-end reconciliations, payments and reporting within deadlines.
• Monitor AP systems and generate status reports to identify trends and issues.
• Meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets and reporting for the AP team.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensure invoices are processed in accordance with purchasing policies, including purchase order requirements, appropriate approvals and supporting documentation standards.
• Review employee expense claims for compliance with company travel and expense policies and ensure timely resolution of exceptions.
• Monitor the workload and manage the allocation of processing for the Accounts Payable Officers to ensure invoices are processed in accordance with agreed time frames.
• Ensure month end reconciliations, payments and reporting are completed within business time frames.
• Monitor accounts payable systems, producing status reports to track trends and issues and then work with the business to resolve.
• Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly targets and reporting is met for the Accounts Payable team.
• Ensure opportunities for continuous improvement of the processes and procedures are identified and realised.
• Provide supervision, leadership, training and support to the Accounts Payable team ensuring cohesive relationships and effective communication is achieved with vendors.
• Partner with operational and corporate departments to improve processes, enhance controls, resolve issues and support business objectives.

About you:

• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in dealing with suppliers and resolving issues timely and with a methodical approach and escalating as required.
• Experience in quality process and improvement techniques and procedures.
• General knowledge of accounting principles and strong understanding of accounts payable.
