Job summary

MidCoast Council is seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to manage supplier payments, AP records and GST compliance. The role also provides trained relief support to the Payroll team during absences, offering broad exposure to financial administration and systems within the Finance team.

You will process supplier payments, check invoices, reconcile statements and assist with payroll duties. Permanent, full-time position based at our Yalawanyi Ganya Administration Centre, Taree.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Accounting or Finance is viewed favourably.
• Experience processing and recording financial transactions.
• Experience completing reconciliations and preparing routine financial reports.
• Accounts Payable experience in a medium or large organisation.

Responsibilities

• Process and raise supplier payments through Council's Accounts Payable system.
• Check invoices for accuracy, authorisation, coding and GST treatment.
• Reconcile supplier statements monthly.
• Maintain accurate supplier records and GST status.
• Assist with payroll processing and timesheet checks.
• Liaise with suppliers and staff to resolve payment issues.
• Test Finance system upgrades affecting AP and Payroll.
