Job summary

Gundagai Meat Processors (GMP) is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Clerk to cover a 5-month maternity leave on a full-time basis at our Gundagai, NSW site. You will manage invoices, reconciliations, and month-end processes, supporting audits and compliance within a busy finance team.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in a similar finance role, strong MS Office and accounting software skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate II or III, or one year of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
• 1–2 years’ work experience in a similar finance position required.
• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent computer literacy in MS Office and finance software systems.
• Ability to prioritise work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to calculate and manage financial records.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, payments and receipts accurately and timelily.
• Maintain supplier and customer account records ensuring data integrity.
• Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies as required.
• Assist with payment runs and follow up on outstanding debts.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile capital expenditure, major RM, and project work.
• Assist in month-end closing by reconciling AP sub-ledgers with the GL.
• Prepare accrual entries for outstanding invoices and post month-end journals.
• Assist in monthly financial reports including BAS and audits.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Clerk to join our Finance Team and contribute to our financial operations. This position will be to cover Maternity Leave on a Fixed-term, 5-month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain supplier and customer account records, ensuring data integrity.
• Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies as required.
• Assist with the preparation of payment runs and follow up on outstanding debts.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile pallet movement, Chep account, shell card, and other key supplier accounts.
• Reconcile capital expenditure, major R&M, and other project work.
• Assist in month-end closing procedures by reconciling accounts payable sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
• Prepare and post accrual entries for outstanding invoices.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports including BAS
• Support the Finance team in maintaining accurate records for audits and compliance.
• Conducting financial investigations, preparing detailed reports, and preparing financial documentation for external and internal audits.
• Posting month end journals in the accounting software for accrued expenses, deferred income, accrued unbilled revenue, prepayments and reversal of previous month’s accruals.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• Minimum Certificate II or III OR one year of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications
• One (1) to two (2) years’ work experience, depending on qualification/s held, in a similar finance position required
• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent computer literacy skills in MS Office and Finance Software systems
• Prioritise work under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Proven ability to calculate and manage financial records
