Job summary

POP & Co, Hawthorn, Australia, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our growing team on a full-time basis. You will manage end-to-end accounting tasks for SME clients, ensure compliance with Australian standards, and deliver accurate financial reporting.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of Australian accounting experience, proficiency in Xero/MYOB/QuickBooks and advanced Excel, and strong communication skills to work with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Full or partial qualification in CIMA/ACCA/CPA.
  • 3–4 years of accounting experience, ideally with Australian accounts.
  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and advanced Excel.
  • Strong communication skills with client-facing experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with an analytical mindset.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using numerous online platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Prepare and review financial statements per Australian accounting standards.
  • Process payroll and lodge Single Touch Payroll.
  • Prepare BAS/IAS, P&L, balance sheet, and aging reports.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, GST, and ATO guidelines.
  • Assist with internal/external audits and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients via email, calls, and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and client confidentiality.
  • Identify process improvements and support automation initiatives.
  • Understand client/jurisdiction requirements for all deliverables.
  • Analyze MI data to detect trends and suggest improvements.

POP & Co is an established outsourcing business based in Hawthorn, Australia, providing a range of services from accounting to digital marketing. Our client base consists of small to medium businesses and high net worth individuals, across a variety of industries.

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and organised Accountant to join our fast expanding team, on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Process payroll and lodge Single Touch Payroll.
  • Prepare and review BAS/IAS, P&L, balance sheet, and aging reports.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, GST, and ATO guidelines.

  • Analyse the MI data collated by the team on regular basis to detect trends and suggesting improvisations.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Full/ Partial qualification in CIMA/ACCA/CPA
  • 3 - 4 years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to Australian accounts
  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with client-facing experience
  • Ability to work accurately under deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using numerous online platforms for research outreach
  • Ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision
  • A team player with a can do attitude
