Job summary

• Strong knowledge of financial accounting, management reporting and statutory compliance.
• Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts and management reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with management and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and management accounts.
• Prepare and review profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.
• Examine operating costs, revenue and expenditure and provide financial analysis to management.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
• Manage month-end and year-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Review customer billing, supplier and carrier charges and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
• Analyse freight, warehousing and operational costs for cost control opportunities.
• Assist with GST, BAS and other statutory and financial compliance requirements.
• Maintain and improve accounting systems, procedures and internal controls.
• Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable and accounts payable performance.

Job description

Reporting to management, the Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, financial analysis and internal controls across the business. This is a hands‑on accounting position with exposure to a broad range of commercial and operational activities within the logistics and freight industry.

Key responsibilities

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and management accounts.

Prepare and review profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.

Examine operating costs, revenue and expenditure and provide financial analysis to management.

Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis to support business planning and decision‑making.

Manage month‑end and year‑end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and account reconciliations.

Review customer billing, supplier and carrier charges and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.

Analyse freight, warehousing and operational costs and identify opportunities for improved cost control and business performance.

Assist with GST, BAS and other statutory and financial compliance requirements.

Maintain and improve accounting systems, financial procedures and internal controls.

About you

A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline.

At least 3 years of relevant professional accounting experience.

CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards a recognised professional accounting qualification, highly regarded.

Strong knowledge of financial accounting, management reporting and statutory compliance.

Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts and management reports.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting software skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with management and operational teams.
