Job summary

Synergie Australia is recruiting an experienced Accountant for the Brisbane team, offering hands-on exposure across financial reporting, payroll, compliance, management reporting and business operations. Fluent Cantonese and English are essential, with Mandarin language skills highly regarded.

You will lead month-end close, prepare management reports, coordinate BAS/GST/PAYG obligations, and support external auditors.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Proven experience in an Accountant role.
• Strong knowledge of GST, BAS, PAYG and compliance.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
• Prepare management reports and variance analysis.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions.
• Manage payroll activities including onboarding, terminations and timesheet processing.
• Prepare and coordinate BAS, GST, PAYG, Payroll Tax and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and financial analysis.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Support broader business improvement and finance projects.

Synergie Australia is partnering with a well-established and growing business to recruit an experienced Accountant for their Brisbane team. This is a broad, hands-on accounting position offering exposure across financial reporting, payroll, compliance, management reporting and business operations.

Please note: Cantonese language skills are a non-negotiable requirement for this role. Candidates must be able to communicate professionally in both English and Cantonese.

What you will be required to do

To be successful in the role you will

• Hold tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Have previous experience working in an Accountant position
• Demonstrate strong financial and management accounting capability
• Possess sound knowledge of GST, BAS, PAYG and statutory compliance requirements
• Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Be confident working across multiple priorities and stakeholders
• Have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with Dynamics 365 will be highly regarded
• FMCG, wholesale, distribution or import/export industry experience will be advantageous
• Be fluent in Cantonese and English (essential and non-negotiable)
• Mandarin language skills will be highly regarded
