Job summary

Goldenlight Pty Ltd (Goldenlight Civil & Construction) in Canberra is hiring a qualified Accountant to manage financial operations from our Majura office. You will prepare financial statements, lodge BAS/IAS/PAYG/FBT, handle payroll, and perform job costing across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in Accounting or related field with an accounting major.
• At least 1 year of relevant post-qualification accounting experience.
• Sound knowledge of Australian taxation, GST and payroll legislation.
• Proficiency in Xero and/or MYOB, plus intermediate to advanced Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; good written and verbal English.
• Construction or project-based accounting experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, PAYG withholding and FBT returns; support year-end income tax with external tax agent.
• Run full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Process payroll for site and office staff, including superannuation, STP reporting and ACT portable long service leave reporting.
• Do job costing for each project, and prepare progress claims, variations and retention tracking for head contractors.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and budgets, and analyse project profitability for the Director.
• Manage subcontractor payments and TPAR reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with ATO, ASIC and Fair Work requirements.
• Liaise with auditors, banks, insurers and builders on financial matters.

Goldenlight Pty Ltd (Goldenlight Civil & Construction) has been operating in Canberra since 2018. We specialise in installing structural reinforcement. Our services cover commercial, civil and residential steel fixing, post-tensioning, prefabrication and welding. We have worked on major projects across Canberra and the surrounding region, including South Jerrabomberra High School, Narrabundah College, the Canadian High Commission, Raya Gungahlin and the Googong Water Tank.

As the business grows, we're looking for a qualified Accountant to manage our financial operations and work closely with the Director.

The role

This is a permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week) at our Majura office. Your main duties will be:

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports
• Preparing and lodging BAS, IAS, PAYG withholding and FBT returns, and supporting year-end income tax compliance with the external tax agent

About you
