Job summary

Port Noarlunga Primary School is seeking an Aboriginal Community Education Officer (ACEO) to support Aboriginal children and young people to engage, learn and thrive at school. The ACEO builds relationships between school, Aboriginal students, families, and the community, and supports culturally responsive approaches across the site.

The role is based at Port Noarlunga Primary School, with a 12-hour-per-week roster and potential for part-time or flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Aboriginal students and communities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with families and staff.
• Knowledge of culturally responsive approaches to learning.

Responsibilities

• work with and in the Aboriginal community of the school
• support engagement, participation and wellbeing of Aboriginal students
• assist with case management of children and young people at risk
• contribute to the development and implementation of programs that support Aboriginal learners
• provide cultural advice and support to staff where appropriate
• strengthen connections between home, school and community.
