Job summary

Beca Pty. Ltd. is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Archaeologist to deliver Aboriginal heritage projects across Australia.

You will contribute to significant work in energy, transport, water and defence sectors, balancing field work with client engagement and regulatory compliance. As part of the Planning & Environment team, you will help manage projects, develop proposals and collaborate with planners, ecologists and engineers to integrate heritage outcomes into broader delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in Aboriginal cultural heritage assessment and archaeology within Australia.
• Participation in Aboriginal community consultation processes in accordance with NSW heritage requirements.
• Knowledge of State and Commonwealth heritage legislation and guidelines.
• Mapping, field data management and heritage assessments using GIS software.
• Ability to work on site, away from home and in remote locations; NSW driver’s licence (4WD preferred).
• Familiarity with AHIP processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and contribute to high-quality technical reports (Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessments, Due Diligence Assessments, Heritage Impact Assessments, Excavation Reports).
• Support consultation and engagement with Aboriginal stakeholders and community representatives.
• Present technical findings to clients and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in archaeological field surveys, test excavations and salvage operations.
• Contribute to proposals, value propositions and client presentations.
• Assist with project management activities including scope, scheduling and budgeting.
