Barang Regional Alliance Ltd is a not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation serving the Central Coast of NSW. It seeks a Community Engagement Officer (Identified Role) to support practical engagement, coordinate programs and ensure community voices inform regional development priorities.

The role emphasizes building trust with Elders and Aboriginal community groups, coordinating events, and reporting on progress while upholding cultural protocols and the SCHADS award terms.

Qualifications

• Identifies as an Aboriginal person and is recognised and accepted as such by the Aboriginal community.
• Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal community contexts and a commitment towards progressing social, economic and cultural development for Aboriginal people.
• Demonstrated ability to influence systems change and contribute to Aboriginal led collaborative reform that advances regional priorities.
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement, relationship building and communication skills.
• Well-developed skills in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and demonstrated understanding of social media platforms and other relevant digital tools.
• Experience in stakeholder management, community engagement or project management.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ongoing community feedback mechanisms (annual community surveys, workshops, forums, consultations) to ensure community identified priorities inform regional advocacy, planning and decision-making.
• Coordinate and convene the Central Coast Aboriginal Interagency to strengthen collaboration and information sharing.
• Develop, maintain and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal community members, Elders, Leaders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, government agencies and community partners.
• Support the ongoing identification, recording and communication of community priorities, in addition to emerging issues and opportunities to inform Barang’s Regional Development Agenda.
• Assist in the coordination and support of partnership tables, community panels, and other shared decision-making mechanisms.
• Plan, coordinate and facilitate community engagement activities as a means to promote meaningful participation, increase community voice and strengthen accountability.
• Develop, coordinate and maintain communications, including social media, digital platforms and engagement materials, targeted towards local Aboriginal community members.
• Monitor and respond to community feedback, ensuring information is appropriately recorded, documented and distributed.
