Job summary

Live North West Qld is seeking a Community Connection & Engagement Officer to build strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders. The role supports recruitment, development, and retention of foster and kinship carers, ensuring culturally safe practices across regions.

The position emphasises community voice and ATSICPP compliance, with duties across multiple sites and collaboration with internal teams to inform service delivery and outcomes.

Qualifications

• C Class Queensland Driver’s Licence is required.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card) required.
• First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Diploma in Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Social Work, or related field.
• Experience leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

Responsibilities

• Build and sustain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Elders.
• Lead community engagement activities to promote foster and kinship care for Indigenous carers.
• Support culturally informed carer recruitment strategies and outreach.
• Act as a cultural liaison between service, community and partner agencies.
• Promote awareness of foster and kinship care and remove participation barriers.
• Maintain records and contribute to reporting on engagement activities and outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to inform assessment, placement and support decisions.
