Job summary

Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-Operative in Geelong West, VIC is seeking a dedicated role to deliver culturally appropriate health care focused on Social and Emotional Wellbeing and alcohol and drug outcomes for Aboriginal community members.

The role includes raising awareness, encouraging access to AOD services, and collaborating with the Health Service team and external agencies for referrals and case management, with some program development duties under a harm minimization approach.

Qualifications

• Qualifications or relevant experience in the alcohol and other drug discipline.
• Sound knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal people, particularly within the Wathaurong community.
• Ability to liaise with health services and advocate for service users.

Responsibilities

• Raising awareness within the Aboriginal community on addressing alcohol and other drugs issues.
• Encouraging access to culturally appropriate AOD support services.
• Collaborating with Health Service teams and external agencies for effective referrals and case management.
• Contributing to harm minimization activities including health promotion and community linkage development.
