Job summary

Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services in NSW is seeking an experienced Aboriginal Mental Health Worker to provide culturally safe aftercare support to individuals in crisis in Bega. The role focuses on timely follow-up and strong referral pathways within the Aboriginal community.

The role is full‑time, fixed term to 30 June 2028, based in Bega NSW, with opportunities to contribute to a localised service delivery model and build capacity across local stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (or equivalent).
• Mental health qualifications and/or experience.
• Experience with Aboriginal communities or within an Aboriginal organisation.
• Experience providing one-on-one support to clients with complex issues.
• Knowledge of strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a localised service delivery model for aftercare services through codesign with local Community.
• Provide aftercare services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals after suicide attempts/crisis.
• Build and maintain referral pathways with acute, primary, schools, police, and other services.
• Participate in the Aftercare Services Community of Practice and share best practices.
• Undertake reporting on aftercare activities and data collection.
