Fraser & Hutchinson Pty Ltd – Surry Hills NSW is seeking a hands-on Front of House leader for 40Res, a small independent neighbourhood wine bar.

You will oversee day-to-day service, support the wider team, manage bookings and guest enquiries, and help maintain exceptional hospitality while sharing wine knowledge with guests.

With at least 4 years of senior hospitality experience and a collaborative, guest-focused mindset, you will lead by example in an owner-operated venue.

At 40Res you will work closely with the owners and management team, you'll help oversee the day-to-day running of the venue, ensuring every service runs smoothly and every guest feels welcome. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can confidently run service, support the wider team and help continue to build a great local venue.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting and leading the front-of-house team across daily service
• Helping drive a positive team culture built on accountability, collaboration and great hospitality
• Delivering exceptional guest experiences and building relationships with regulars
• Having a solid understanding of wine and the confidence to discuss the wine list with guests
• Supporting wine service, beverage recommendations and ongoing team wine education
• Assisting with staff training, onboarding and development
• Helping manage bookings, reservations and guest enquiries
• Supporting opening and closing procedures, cash handling and daily operational requirements
• Maintaining service standards and ensuring the venue is always presented at its best
• Working alongside the owners to improve systems, develop the team and grow the business

About you

• A minimum of 4 years' senior hospitality experience, ideally in a supervisory, team leader, supervisor or assistant management role
• A good working knowledge of wine and a genuine interest in learning more
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead by example
• Confidence running a service and supporting a team in a busy environment
• A natural ability to connect with guests and deliver warm, personable service
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to take ownership
• Strong organisational skills and an eye for the details that make a venue special
• A positive attitude, reliability and a genuine team-first mindset
• Previous experience in a restaurant or wine bar is highly regarded
