Job summary

Terrain Group is seeking an experienced 310T Licensed Mechanic to take ownership of maintenance, repair, and day-to-day management of our fleet. You will diagnose and repair trucks and equipment, plan preventative maintenance, coordinate repairs and parts, and maintain service records to keep the fleet safe and reliable.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong diagnostics, welding, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Full 310T Truck and Coach Technician license is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed 310T mechanic.
• Strong experience diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks.
• Welding experience is preferred.
• Valid G driver’s license; AZ or DZ is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on trucks.
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Complete Ontario MTO annual safety inspections on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Conduct regular fleet inspections and safety checks.
• Coordinate ordering and management of parts, supplies, and repair materials.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and service records.
• Maintain an organized inventory of parts and shop supplies.
• Coordinate outside repairs and service providers when required.
• Support field repairs and breakdowns when necessary.

Job description

Terrain Group is looking for an experienced 310T Licensed Mechanic to take ownership of the maintenance, repair, and day-to-day management of our company fleet.

This is a hands-on working leadership position. You will spend your time actively diagnosing and repairing trucks and equipment while also planning preventative maintenance, coordinating repairs and parts, maintaining service records, and ensuring the fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational.

Our fleet includes pickup trucks, triaxle trucks, trailers, small equipment, and various tools.

The ideal candidate is a skilled 310T mechanic who is organized, self-directed, safety-focused, and capable of taking ownership of an entire fleet.

We use AI-assisted tools to help identify and match applicants to our open roles. This may include reviewing resumes and suggesting potential matches. All final hiring decisions are made by humans.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on trucks
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
• Complete Ontario MTO annual safety inspections on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Conduct regular fleet inspections and safety checks
• Prioritize urgent repairs to minimize equipment downtime
• Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
• Monitor fleet condition and identify potential issues before they become major repairs
• Coordinate ordering and management of parts, supplies, and repair materials
• Maintain an organized inventory of parts and shop supplies
• Coordinate outside repairs and service providers when required
• Provide support for field repairs and breakdowns when necessary
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company safety policies and Ontario Occupational Health and Safety requirements
• Help establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
• Operate company vehicles and equipment as required to complete repairs, inspections, and maintenance

Key Requirements

• Full 310T Truck and Coach Technician License
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed 310T mechanic
• Strong experience diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Experience performing MTO inspections
• Welding experience
• Valid G Driver's License
• AZ or DZ License is an asset
• Comfortable working on a wide range of vehicles and equipment
• Computer literate and comfortable learning maintenance/software systems
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
• Clear and effective communication
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs
• Ability to operate various vehicles and equipment as required
