Job summary

SG Fleet AU in Melbourne is seeking a qualified motor vehicle/heavy diesel mechanic to deliver cost‑effective maintenance support for clients, manage servicing requests, assess repairs within contract limits, and respond promptly to customer, supplier and internal inquiries.

The role emphasises customer service, negotiation with suppliers, strong communication, aim for timely resolutions, and maintaining high quality while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Qualified Motor Vehicle or Heavy Diesel Mechanic with a recognised trade certification.
• Experience in the motor industry.
• Experience in customer service and supplier negotiation.
• Strong communication, listening, and written skills.
• Ability to resolve issues to completion with timely follow-up.
• Excellent discretion, tact, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Drive a strong customer service culture with accountability and customer experience ownership.
• Manage and control servicing and repair costs for fleet vehicles.
• Minimise downtime of vehicles (VOR).
• Maximise warranties including post-warranty support requests.
• Advise clients on maintenance issues and contractual entitlements such as Tyre Allowance, Roadside Assistance and Accident Management

Job Description

This role is responsible for delivering cost-effective maintenance support to clients while providing exceptional customer service. Manage maintenance requests, assess and authorise repairs in line with vehicle contracts and approval limits, and respond promptly to customer, supplier, and internal enquiries.

Job Requirements

• Qualified Motor Vehicle or Heavy Diesel Mechanic with a recognised trade certification
• Extensive experience in the motor industry
• Experience in a customer service role and/or negotiating with suppliers
• Effective communicator both verbally on the phone & in writing, demonstrating good listening, probing skills
• Excellent discretion and tact in dealings with people
• Can resolve problems through to complete resolution for customers in a timely, effective manner
• Consistently takes responsibility for high quality, high output work, showing innovative, forward thinking, and strong attention to detail
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills - meets specified deadlines and reports regularly on progress

Job Responsibilities

• Drive a strong customer service culture; one of accountability, engagement, and customer experience ownership, where dependable team members work collaboratively and intelligently within a proactive environment, collectively owning their team KPIs and working towards high customer satisfaction ratings.
• Manage and Control Servicing and Repair costs for all fleet vehicles.
• Minimise down time of vehicles (VOR).
• Look to maximise vehicles warranties, including requests on post warranty support on all manufacturers’ "product problem" and other premature mechanical repairs.
• Advise clients on maintenance related issues covering their vehicle’s contract entitlements and inclusions such as - Tyre Allowance, Roadside Assistance and Accident Management
