Project Overview

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary

The Rebar Supervisor is responsible for the direct hire scope of works in areas of the Eva Copper Process plant. The rebar supervisor is responsible for monitoring all appointed direct hire craft and sub-contractor’s job site activities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor’s performance follow project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders. This position is offered at FIFO 2:1 roster to North Queensland.

Major Responsibilities
  • Construction monitoring and compliance of direct hire and sub-contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
  • Coordinate performance of the installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, client, and other stakeholders involved in earthworks, foundation and concrete works.
  • Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.
  • Input to ensure continuous construction work fronts availability through development of 3 week look ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules and any other service requirements including sub-contractor submittals
  • Responsible for submittals, technical queries, Field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts
  • Maintains an effective relationship with other functional departments and coordinates all jobsite contractual activities
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Preferably a recognized degree in an engineering discipline or a minimum 10 years of relevant experience in civil, rebar and concrete scopes on industrial plants.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction projects performing a contractor or EPC/M rebar installation supervisory role.
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Experience of large-scale civil and concrete projects
  • Experience of managing large rebar scopes of work.
  • Thorough knowledge of standards, specification and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated
  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor’s staff and construction engineers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of rebar installations for complex formwork systems and installation processes on similar projects.
