Job summary

The Medical University of Vienna invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Paediatric Metabolic Diseases. The candidate will lead research in inherited metabolic disorders, contribute to teaching, and expand cross-links within the Metabolism Research Platform.

The role offers a tenure-track position with a maximum six‑year duration, potential promotion to tenured Associate Professor, and a competitive remuneration package based on the university’s collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Must hold an MD with a relevant doctorate or equivalent.
• Specialist in paediatrics and adolescent medicine focusing on inherited metabolic disorders; international qualification such as SSIEM ETAC or equivalent.
• Proven ability to secure peer‑reviewed funding; strong record in translational/clinical metabolic research.
• Educational and didactic qualifications including supervision of Masters and PhD students.
• Commitment to diversity and gender competence; proven international working experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead research in paediatric metabolism and translational aspects of precision medicine.
• Contribute to teaching and supervision of Masters and PhD students.
• Strengthen and cross-link research clusters within the Metabolism Research Platform.
