Zusammenfassung

The University of Vienna seeks a motivated Technical Assistant to manage the cytogenetics and genome-size lab within the Evolutionary Plant Cytogenetics group. You will support both teaching activities and research projects, handling lab operations and ensuring accurate data collection.

Qualifikationen

• Completed degree focusing on chemistry or molecular biology.
• Comprehensive IT user skills (e.g. MS Office, Adobe Illustrator).
• Very good written and verbal German and English.
• Ability to work independently and in a structured, service-oriented manner.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of molecular/cell biology.
• Experience in cytology and flow cytometry.

Aufgaben

• General laboratory organization and management
• Management and supervision of the flow cytometry laboratory, including sample measurement, data analysis, experiments, and documentation for publications
• DNA extraction and library preparation for NGS
• Basic analyses of plant chromosomes
• Technical training and support for students and visiting scientists in flow cytometry
• Support in organization and delivery of subject-specific courses
• Participation in FWF-funded and other research projects
