The SecOps Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as the technical leader and trusted advisor for Fortinet's Security Operations portfolio. The role combines deep technical expertise, customer-facing presales engagement, business alignment, and internal enablement to drive the successful adoption of Fortinet's SecOps solutions.
The SME supports account teams, partners, customers, and fellow Systems Engineers by providing advanced architecture guidance, solution positioning, competitive differentiation, and subject matter leadership across the Security Operations domain.
Act as the primary technical authority for Fortinet SecOps solutions.
Maintain expert-level knowledge of the products within the SecOps portfolio like FortiSIEM, FortiSOAR, FortiEDR, FortiRecon and others
Understand integration points within the Fortinet Security Fabric.
Stay current with industry trends, threat landscapes, SOC modernization, AI-driven security operations, and emerging technologies.
Lead advanced technical discovery workshops.
Support strategic customer opportunities and large enterprise engagements.
Conduct executive and technical presentations.
Design solution architectures aligned with customer security and business requirements.
Drive technical validation activities including:
Proof of Concepts (PoCs)
Demonstrations
Workshops
Technical assessments
Act as trusted advisor to CISO, SOC, Security Architecture, and Security Operations teams.
Support regional Systems Engineers and Account Managers throughout the sales cycle.
Provide expertise during qualification and opportunity development.
Develop competitive positioning against key vendors.
Assist with RFIs, RFPs, and technical proposal development.
Influence account strategies where SecOps solutions can create customer value.
Mentor and coach field Systems Engineers.
Deliver technical enablement sessions and workshops.
Develop reusable technical assets including:
Demo environments
Solution playbooks
Architecture guides
Best practices
Competitive battlecards
Support certification and skills development initiatives.
Enable strategic partners and MSSPs on Fortinet SecOps solutions.
Participate in partner workshops and technical sessions.
Assist partners in building managed security and SOC services based on the Fortinet platform.
Support partner-led opportunities requiring advanced technical expertise.
