Job summary

infrared.city is seeking a Senior Urban Climate Simulation Scientist to build and validate climate intelligence for cities and buildings. You will code, benchmark, and author audit-grade validation reports, working directly with AI engineers and leadership.

You will co-design automated workflows, implement robust pipelines, and generate data for real-time surrogate models, employing Claude Code and other agentic tools in a fast-paced startup environment in Vienna.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Building Physics or related field.
• Experience validating numerical simulation models against standards (VDI/ASHRAE/ISO/DIN).
• Strong software engineering discipline: modular design, automated testing, Git workflows.

Responsibilities

• Hands-On coding, validation, and standards: benchmark models, fix boundary couplings, ensure energy/radiant balance, write validation reports.
• Co-Design automated workflows and reporting pipelines: design multi-step workflows, add sanity gates, ensure unphysical outputs are avoided.
• Generate training data for ML surrogates: build scalable pipelines, verify conservation laws, prepare headless execution for autonomous agents.
• Build at velocity with Claude Code and agentic tools: rapid prototyping, automated testing, production-grade code.
